Confined Space Safety

Confined Space Facts

Introduction

There are over 1.6 million workers who enter Confined Spaces every year. Of that number approximately 63 die from asphyxiation, burns, electrocution, drown, and other tragedies related to the job hazard. More alarming is the fact that 60% of those who die are untrained rescuers who not only fail to save a co-worker, but are killed during the rescue attempt.

Every Confined Space is unique, therefore each Confined Space must be evaluated and hazards must be controlled before an entry.

Stop And Think Before Entering A Confined Space!

Selecting a System

Ventilators - Provide mechanical ventilation used to control the atmospheric hazards of the Confined Space by replacing unsafe air with clean, breathable air.

Gas Monitors - Determine if the air is within an acceptable range to perform the entry and or work in or around the Confined Space. Since hazardous gases vary in weight it is necessary to take air samples from the Confined Space at different levels with properly calibrated equipment.

Fall Protection - These devices provide worker safety by protecting the worker in the event of a fall., They are also used in rescue and retrieval in Confined Spaces to meet OSHA’s requirement or a mechanical device to retrieve personnel from vertical type permit spaces.

Air Supplied Respirators provide breathable air from a clean air source.

Portable Air Filtration Panels provide the user with filtered OSHA compliant Grade D Breathing Air from a compressor.
