Pipe Testing Information
-
Pressure is
pressure regardless of the source, and pounds per square inch in all
mediums, such as air or water, create the same forces to the surface
of the plug.
-
1 foot of head pressure is equal to 0.43 PSI
-
Head pressure is measured from the center of
the plug
-
Pounds of force equals Pie (3.14) x R2 (Radius
x 2) x test pressure. (Example: 8” dia line/5 lb test = 3.14 x 4 x 4
x 5 = 251 lbs of force)
-
Always inflate plug to the recommended
-
pressure to prevent dislodgment
-
(due to under inflation).
-
Never stand in front of an inflated pipe plug.
-
Always securely brace plug to prevent
-
movement.
-
Never deflate or remove plug until all
back/test pressure has been relieved.
-
Never inflate a plug over a lateral or other
opening.
-
Never allow a plug to protrude from the end of
a pipe.
